Edward George “Ski” Bourinskie, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6th, 2009. He was born July 25, 1919 in Shamokin, PA to the late John and Mary Burinskas. He served 22 years in the U.S. Navy attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander and in WW II was a pilot on an aircraft carrier. He went on to become a high school teacher, majoring in Science and Wood Shop. He was a self-taught artist and created works of art in painting, woodworking and stained glass. His quick wit and dry humor never waned throughout his long life nor did the twinkle in his eyes.Edward is survived by his granddaughters, Katheryn Fredette and Anne Bourinskie; grandson, Paul Bourinskie; two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Doris Eleanor (Northedge) Bourinskie; son, James Edward “Jim” Bourinskie and daughter, Gail Marie Diaz.Full military services will be held at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, IN on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
